Hi,

I just bought my first mac (MacBook) and so far everything is working great. The only problem I'm having so far is space. I looking for a way to uninstall some of the original mac software I don't use such as iWeb, Safari, Garageband and others. Now I was told, to uninstall these apps I just ne to "trash" it. Will that completely remove the application(s) ? While searching on google I came accross a website saying that deleteing iWeb alone would free up to 1gig but when I click on the iWeb icon and get info it's only 300mb (or so).
Thanks in advance.

If you really want to delete stuff you can start with going to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support and deleting the Garageband folder. It will save you more than a gig. Also the iDVD folder there has more than a gig.

Do not delete Safari.

Deleting iWeb alone will not free up a gig.

If you really just got your MacBook, like I did mine, you could just do a clean install of OS X, select custom install, only pick the languages and software you want/need, and save a ton of space. I kept all the software, but left off all languages other than Japanese, and I saved something like 4 gigs of space.

If you delete the sample tracks in garageband you get a chunk back, but don't delete the loops if you are into any type of music/sound creation.

Oh, yeah... congrats on your new Mac!
My favorite game in the whole world is Dark Castle... er... Beyond Dark Castle!
