Seeing the inevitible looming in the distance, I want to help my wife archive her photos to some offline storage like a CD. I have wandered all through iPhoto's menus and not found anything about how one could move the files off the computer without hosing iPhoto's database. Is there a simple way to do this that won't freak out iPhoto (and my wife)?

I saw it, but it doesn't quite say "move the files off the computer entirely," and I don't like to make assumptions. It's obvious that this puts the appropriate database information on the CD, but does it allow me to "MOVE" the files off the computer in the same process, or do I have to delete them later? Sometimes Apple is too helpful in "here's how you do this," without giving you all of the skinny on just exactly what "this" is.

Why not get an external hard drive and store the photo library there? That's what I do. Actually, I have two libraries -- one for older (archived) photos on an external, and one on the PB internal for current photos. Works like a charm.
