Earlier today, I had to forcibly restart my ProBook (Rosetta was grinding the system to a halt) and my external harddrive's filesystem got hosed. Classic case for DiskWarrior.

However, I seem to have misplaced my DiskWarrior 2.1 CD and I couldn't find an old OS 9 cd either (I must have thrown them away when I got my ProBook). Can anybody make a disk image of his/her DiskWarrior 2.1 CD and put it on a server? If requested, I can e-mail/pm my registration …

Thanks a lot. This little favor would be much appreciated!

DiskWarrior does not work on the Intel Macs. According to Alsoft, an update is "in progress" and should be released soon. I certainly hope so -- DiskWarrior has saved my life on more occasions than I care to count, and not being able to have it standing by in case of emergencies for my MBP makes me feel more than a little exposed.

Best advice to sort out a badly damaged system on an Intel machine is to park the data safely, and then zero the drive and do a complete clean install of the OS.

I have an older PowerBook G4 sitting next to me so the cpu architecture is not an issue.
The reason why I won't upgrade now is simple: according to Sales, I would have to pay for the Intel upgrade. If I were to get the upgrade for free, I would have considered it.

I have downloaded DiskWarrior 2.1.1 in the meantime, but I couldn't find an OS 9 CD -- which means, I can't launch the application. So all I technically need is MacOS 9, but preferably just the DiskWarrior CD (with a crippled version of MacOS).

Sorry -- bit confused by what you're saying. I use DiskWarrior daily to fix problems for my clients, so have some experience here. Even if you mount an Intel Mac via TDM on a PowerPC, Disk Warrior will not see the Intel Mac hard disk and therefore cannot rebuild the system file directory.

It's my external harddrive that is hosed, not my system drive. And my external harddrive works with PPC and Intel Macs …

Dear oh dear.... Silly silly me! It's the end of a (very) long working week here in good old London town, and I just didn't read your initial post properly. My sincere apologies -- I now feel Very Stupid Indeed....!

No worries, all this has been a sequence of unfortunate coincidences from the very beginning, all help is appreciated
Would you be willing to make a cd image?

What you are asking for is piracy. DiskWarrior can by purchased in a downloadable version, so "urgency" is no excuse here. You can get it as fast or faster than a pirated copy.

Now close your own thread, cause piracy is not tolerated on this forum.

Excuse me? I have said that I am willing to prove I have purchased a licence (for version 2.1) prior to getting the download link! I don't know how much more explicit I can get! I'm not asking for any version of DiskWarrior, just the version I have a licence for.

(Just in case you are interested, yes, I did buy the cd version (which includes the bootable cd) and not just the application (available via download).)

Yes, you bought it. And you lost it. Tough luck, but it's gone now. You can maybe mail the maker of the software and ask whether they provide you with a replacement disk. But nobody here on this forum is entitled to make that decision. As fas as we know you could have sold your disks on eBay.

What you're asking for is piracy and it's illegal.

Have you considered contacting Alsoft? I've found them to be quite customer-friendly.

I have contacted them regarding an upgrade and consulted their FAQs. You are able to download the app from their website, but in my case, that's not enough since I need some form OS 9. I already know that shipping takes quite a while and I need the data on that drive asap.

I'm afraid that I must agree. I have to hold threads made by mods to the same standards as those by normal users, and we would not permit this.

With software, you purchase a licence. I have mailed Alsoft and it takes weeks for the cd to get here (that's DiskWarrior 3). I'm not sure what I've done to you personally over the last few days to get such a courteous and unprejudiced reply, but I've made clear that I have exhausted these possibilities already.

Also, I can still download the software (and did so), so it's essentially not even about DiskWarrior itself, but the bootable CD. So it's just a matter of time, in the worst case, I will just take my external harddrive to work on Monday, look for an OS 9 CD and install (my legally downloaded copy of ) DiskWarrior on the old Sawtooth G4.
