Hey guys,
I have a problem with all of my peer to peer apps. The apps in question are Acquisition and BitTorrent. I tried downloading other bittorrent apps and even limewire but none of them work. The problem is when I want to try to download something. It just doesnt ... connect. Bittorent files won't connect to the tracker. In Acqusition, the file searches and everything. But when I try to DL, NONE of the files connect at all. They are forever in "connecting..." and then eventually "no sources". The same story for all file sharing apps. Can anyone help? I think I've always had this problem with my new MBP but been too lazy to fix it.
I don't have OS X firewall on or any other virus protection program..
I'm using airport and a home network to connect to the internet. My brother's iBook in the same network has no problems like mine. So I am thinking something is wrong with my network port configs are something like that. I have no idea where to start. Help please? Thanks!

Have you made sure that the ports your software is trying to use are open on your router? That's the first place I would look.

What's your ISPs stance on P2P programs?

If you're using the built-in firewall, the ports need to be opened up there, too.

I wasn't using the built in firewall. I got desperate so I turned it on and then opened up the ports through the firewall. No go =(. What the heck is going on? I didn't know if it was TCP port numbers or UDP Port numbers so i opened up both port numbers in both ports.

Is your router set to forward the ports to your brother's iBook?
