Hi

I have had my Mac for a few months now so know my way around it a bit. I have a power Mac G4 Quicksilver, running Tiger OSx 10.47.

Could anyone tell me how I can change my keyboard so the @ symbol is over the ' and not the 2? I am still using my PC as well.

How do I set a preference for a web browser I would rather use Firefox, as I have managed to set this up for ease due to my visual impairment?

Finally is there any games for the Mac I can download please?

Thanks guys hope to hear from you soon.

Suzy

Welcome to the Cult!

First thing's first: Do not call "Mac" a "MAC." Mac, lower case, refers to the Apple computer and OS. MAC, upper case, refers to the Media Access Control address that is a unique identifier attached to most networking equipment. People get really picky between the two.

Strangely enough, in Safari under Preferences/General, the first item is Default Web browser. Games I do not know; but, you should be more specific as to type or name. sam

Try Macgamefiles for demo downloads and a few others. If you know the name of the game, try macupdate or versiontracker. Or search either of those for "game".

a) Use meaningful thread titles. If all threads were called "Help me" we could just do without the titles and click threads at random.
b) Don't call Mac "MAC".
c) Don't roll your eyes at the people you ask for help. If you don't show any respect you can't expect any help.
d) I don't think you can easily create a custom keyboard layout. I'd get used to the default one.
e) You can change the default browser in Safari->Preferences->General or Firefox->Preferences->General or the equivalent place of any other browser.
f) You can search macgamefiles.com, versiontracker.com or macupdate.com for games. Also have a look here: Apple - Mac OS X Downloads - Games

Keyboard mappings can be changed, but yes, it's unlikely to be easy.

What kind of PC do you have? My PC has the @ symbol as Shift-2.

If you install Firefox, go to Preferences > General and click the checkbox to get Firefox to check that it is the default browser.

Another place to look for games is Pure Mac: Software for Macintosh.

Thanks for all the advice.

I have gone back and change "MAC" to Mac someone else pointed out my mistake.

Sorry if you thought the rolling eyes are rude but that's how I feel confused. I am trying to come over to the Mac and leave my PC alone.

I noticed your signature. I bought my Mac from ebay and the Password was "Das Kapital" if this was your machine thanks it's great.

off to find some games now

No. Must have been a Karl-Marx-fan. I suggest to format the disk and make a completely fresh and clean re-install of the operating system and bundled software for machines that are bought used.

Thanks someone did that for me just in case, hence the teething problems.

I even went out and bought all new software for it.
