Ok so I haven't tried this a second time, but you can if you want.

I was checking out the new grouped album cover view and noticing that some of the tracks on one album were showing up as two different albums. The artwork, artist and album name were the same, and I was sorting on "Album by Artist." I finally figured out that this is happening because some tracks in that album were marked as "Part of a compilation" and some were not. The other important piede I think is that I had cover flow ON.

Cover flow was focused on one of the '2' albums I was merging. I multi-selected the tracks to fix, the bulk change dialog came up, and I set the compilation to NO and clicked OK. BAM - kernel panic.

My guess is that cover flow should have updated to reflect the one less album in that view (I was in my Music Library view). But obviously there is a major bug. I haven't had a panic in a long long time, not a welcome site. Luckily nothing important was open.

Just curious, as I'd like to move up to iTunes v7, did either of you update QuickTime as well ?

Gee, I hope they're friendly..........

Of course. It paniced in the graphics driver code, so it's a system issue most likely.

Indeed, as I have upgraded both QT and iTunes, and have no problem with either.

Gee, I hope they're friendly..........

Apple's graphics drivers definitely seem to be hit or miss... I've heard numerous reports of developers triggering kernel panics with CoreImage code, seen a few games do it, and now this. :/

Dear Apple QA,

Please put down the crackpipe.

Thanks,

I feel a little left out since I (knock on wood) haven't had a single problem med iTunes 7 - it's even better at streaming to my AirPort Express than iTunes 6 (not a single drop in 10+ hours).
