I have decided to buy a Mac Pro..just want to get some information on Final Cut Studio...I currently have a 1.8 dual G5..I do post-production work with Final Cut 4.5, DVD Studio, and Soundtrack....I also have Motion 2 "ACADEMIC VERSION"..reason I have Motion 2 Academic version is because it wasn't offered when I purchased Final Cut and I was enrolled in school when I purchased Motion 2

I am going to be upgrading to Final Cut Suite 5.1; however I am wondering if the upgrade will apply to Motion 2 since its an academic version....any insights would help quite a bit. Thank you

The upgrade from Final Cut Pro 4.5 (retail version) to Final Cut Studio 5.1 is $199. That's probably the route you'd take -- the upgrade from Motion is also $199 but it's likely that you would be unable to upgrade from the academic version to the retail version of Final Cut.
