i just recieved my Mac Pro
what are some necessary freeware apps that one must have??

Adium: One client for multiple IM services. Can be customized to be nicer than eating with your bare hands.

Cyberduck: If you do FTP.

Djay: for the fun of it.

iSquint: video to iPod converter.

Mplayer: will play a lot of video formats (inlcuding FLV -YouTube, that is- if you drop them on the playlist).

VLC: will play the other videos you can't play... and it is a region free DVD player.

Skype: if you have Skype friends or contacts.

Those are the ones I have.

Y no entienden nada... ¡y cómo se divierten!...

And this has NOTHING to do with OS X. It should be in the Applications forum, being about apps and all...
