The September issue of Macworld mag recommended this app:

Parsley is Atomically Delicious 1.3.6

More info here: AtomicParsley

Also mentioned were Lostify and Infiltr8

If you're using iTunes 7, and its new tagging functionality isn't crippled, then zro should be right.

I've ripped a few versions of the office from DVD and placed them in iTunes.

The tagging is great.

Nope. All that does is bring up the same tagging field you get for audio files. I want the one that lets you input the season, episode ID... etc.

So you'll have to put the episode ID in one by one, but the method zro suggested should take a lot of the pain away: how would iTunes "know" what episode a show was from if you didn't tell it (you or someone up the chain).

(I'm totally -not- being snarky here, but as I re-read it, I can see how it might come across. I guess you could interpret from the filename, but that's pretty hit and miss. Maybe you could whip up something in AppleScrapt/Automator to handle it? If only movies had metadata...)

Those look good with the exception of the fact that I can't seem to see how to mass-tag using any of them. Only one file at a time?

But the Episode ID isn't the only thing I'm wanting to input. There's also the name of the Show and the Season.

The only thing relevant I can edit from the Info window when mass-selecting is the year, which really doesn't help me a whole lot.

Year, Season, Artwork, come to mind. I would simply add the show title, ID and episode number. IMHO, I don't think there will be a program that can determine episode information.

I'm not looking for a way to add episode information. I'm looking for something I can use to open up every file from a season of a show, add the year, the show name and the season number.

I made the mistake of mentioning Episode ID earlier in reference to the video tag window in iTunes. I know I can't batch Episode IDs.

All that app does for me when I try to batch process is send me the following error dialogue over and over and over;

"-1700 Can't make "Pr" into type integer."

I haven't seen that error message. Your video files may be non-standard. More info half way down this page: AtomicParsley
vID Infiltr8 v0.8.5a will let you examine the atom tree for errors.

There is also this app:
vID Infiltr8 metadata video tagger

All of the files I'm trying to edit have been converted to mp4 iPod Video with ViddyUp! so I don't know why there'd be a problem with the file type.

vID is also giving me errors when I try to type in tag names, before even trying to process the batch.

"Can't set CurrentIDTag_TVShowName of {} to "C". (-10006)"

Ahh. I had no idea there were such fields for video files. I've only got a few shorts and web vids where things like that are unnecessary.

AppleScript, mayhaps?

This limitation was one reason I took to doing my CD ripping from my PC using MusicMatch. It does allow you to edit ALL the tags for an album's worth of songs at the same time-all the tags that are different, that is. I use it particularly for adding album art from some of the not-in-CDDB discs I have, or those that CDDB has the wrong art for (There's one album by the Cowsills (yes, them!) that has FOUR different covers and two different titles! What a pain!) I don't think MM handles videos though, which means you're up the creek even with that. In fact, I'll bet ALL of the MP3 tagging tools everywhere are lacking when it comes to doing anything with tags on iTMS videos...

If I had any time, I'd take that as a programming challenge. Hint, hint, hint.

Now I'm having problems. I have an H.264 MP4 that iTunes refuses to recognize as a video. It gives the file the video icon but insists on putting it in the Music library. WTF?
