I want to run front row on a mini, and feed it music stored on a hard drive on a remote windows machine. Or, if I give it an external hd....is this possible?

I have a external hd with 500gb of music on it, and without having to import into itunes, can frontrow just access it and play it?

And what about videos? Can I rip dvd's to a hd and have front row just play them from the hd?

Thanks, I'm trying to convert a die hard pc fanatic to macs...thanks.

He likes that the mini has DVI output and digital audio out. Basically he is going to use his mac mini for a home theater pc.
