Does anyone here know of any software for MacBook Pro that logs all keystroke activities INCLUDING PASSWORDS? I noticed most of the software in the market now do not log any passwords and am looking in particular for one that does.

Help Appreciated!
Thanks

The only one that I have seen in use, there may be others, is KeyCaptor.

You better have a damn good reason to use one of these. I am not saying that you haven't, I'm just saying that using one can without justification can potentially land you in extremely hot water.

Before any of us suspicious SOBs logically concerned individuals here will help you out, we'd need to know ALL about the application you intend to put this theoretical key logger to. We will NOT help you in any way compromise hardware or networks you are not the owner of, we won't help you "get the goods" on a suspect spouce/significant other, and we won't help you capture passwords for sensitive stuff elsewhere either.

But aside from that we're more than happy to help!

I totally agree with you and as a moderator or even someone who knows better to help I would also need to know why the need for such a software. Unfortunately I am unable to discuss such issues so openly, but let me try and put it the simplest way possible; I am concerned about my daughter and we've had some circumstaces where she was contacted by an older gentleman, way older and I would like to keep track of who is in contact with her. I hope this is enough to justify the cause of this issue. I was at ease when she was using her pc, but on her birthday I purchased her the Mac and have lost track of her safety ever since; all the keylogger software do not seem to register passwords for some reason, or more likely i havent found one yet.

If you are able to help then great. if not, I totally understand, and thank you

If there would be a keylogger software that would record passwords, than that would be considered a bug in the operating system. Password text fields are special text fields that are supposed to be non-loggable. It's probably tough to find a keylogger that circumvents this security measure.

You have the parental controls feature of the operating system available, that allows you to limit with whom your daughter has e-mail and chat contact. And you can always talk to her and educate her about the risks of online dating with older men.

if money's no problem, you can try planting two hidden cameras and synching them.

One camera would aim at the screen, the other would aim at the keyboard. That way you'll know when she's using her passworded software and typing passwords, instead of just typing her homework.

Don't bully me, I got an Uzi... HOO-HAH!

A kext-based logger (which does exist) shouldn't have any problem circumventing the restriction on reading the keyboard while in a password field.

Given the situation you describe, let's go with TETENAL's suggestion before going any farther. Control where she can surf and whom she can chat with, then explain why. Education is probably far more effective with a teenager than a draconian-seeming intervention on the sites she visits. You could also contact the companies that run these sites and see if they can work with you to limit her access.

The sad thing is that there are a very large number of police officers haunting chat rooms known to be friendly toward adults chatting with juveniles specifically because so many adults have taken advantage of and harmed the juveniles they have chatted with. This is a major safety issue, similar to not allowing your daughter to ride with drunk drivers or to engage in other very unsafe activities.

Finally, if you are concerned about an adult having an unhealthy interest in your daughter, call the police. Vice units have experience with this sort of thing and can help you figure out whether your fears are valid or not-and if they are valid, the cops can do something about it. It is illegal in every state in the U.S. to solicit a minor for sex, and if it seems that this is what's going on, your local police can get subpoenas to require the companies hosting these chats to cough up transcripts, IP addresses and other important information. That's their job, so if this is your concern, let them do it.
