Hi out there,
I'm a new mac owner and I'm really not into itunes-- especially how closely it is interweaved with the "mini store," and other internet/purchasing features. For me (macbook 1.83ghz) it opens noticeably slower than most of my other everyday applications (abiword, camino, seashore). Does any one know of a simple opensource audio file player for tiger? I've tried to use VLC but can't figure out how to make playlists on it. Any others?

You can disable the iTunes store in iTunes Parental preferences, fwiw:



With VLC, just drag and drop your files to the window and Save Playlist (command-S)... which version are you using?

thx everyone for the replies. I think where I'm having trouble now is transferring playlists I made in itunes to a program like Cog or VLC. Is that possible? Or do I remake all those playlists again?

Remake them.

Again, you can just turn off the store options in iTunes if they annoy you. The CoverFlow option alone makes iTunes the only relevant option for me, though.
