I bought a LOT of songs last night and most of them don't play. I'm running this on a Windows box with a 2.0GHz AMD processor, 1GB of RAM and XP Pro. I tried with both version 7.0.1 and rolling back to 7.0. Neither one works. In fact, while "gathering gapless" data, 7.0 just plain crashes on one of the songs that won't play. The songs show the right information, including album artwork, but they just don't play.
Any idea what could be happening here, and more importantly what I can do to fix it?
Update-7.0.1 crashes on trying to collect gapless data... Yikes!

Yikes is right. While I doubt it, is it possible to open any of these files in quicktime or another authorized comp?

Haven't tried yet. I'm installing iTunes 6 right now to see if it can see/use the files...
I just checked, and QT doesn't like them either. Apparently they're corrupted, which would keep iTunes from playing them (and maybe screw up iTunes when trying to gather that gapless data). RATS!
How do I get UNCORRUPTED files after a corrupted download?

Well I've moved the bad songs from my library folder to a separate folder and iTunes no longer crashes. I'm back up to version 7.0.1.
I'm going to check Apple's policy on corrupted files-I just downloaded these last night and some of them work. Just not four artists' worth... Real bummer time here!

Yeah sounds like you'll be placing a call or something. Not entirely sure what'd you'd have to do.

It turns out that you can "report a problem" by going to your purchase history and clicking the appropriate button... It was painless, if lengthy (I downloaded one album and thirty songs, so I had to go through and identify the ones that didn't work...) and they're supposed to get with me -at least with some reply- within 24 hours.
I will definitely report back when I hear something.

Apple/ITMS got back with me today. They re-queued the songs I had problems with, and I've downloaded them again. I'm checking them now, but it looks like they're fine. Full report later.

Most of the songs downloaded fine and work. Only three did not, and I've let the ITMS support folks know about it.
Kudos to the ITMS! They have not told me that whatever the problem was, it was my fault, and they made things very easy for me-I just selected "Check for Purchased Music" and the songs started downloading.

Today ITMS credited me with the three songs that still wouldn't work-and suggested I wait a while before trying to buy them again.
I'm more impressed with these folks every day.
