I just started college a month ago and am taking a basic C++ programing course and have a project due soon. Its a pain only being able to use the school computers with the new Visual Studio on it, is their an OS X compiler out there for free, I searched but came up with nothing. Thanks!

Xcode

It's in optional install from the system CD or can be dowloaded from Apple.

The compiler included in XCode is called gcc. It is the standard on Unix platforms.

or you can download GCC from fink. Kevin Fink's Home Page. get fink commander, and you can download it.

What in the world does Kevin Fink's Home Page have to do with anything? The software you're talking about is available here.

I don't see why you would install GCC through Fink, though, instead of the actual Apple version. That's like breaking down your house and building a giant log cabin in its place.
