Recently I upgraded to iPhoto 6.0.5 and it asked to upgrade my thumbnails. I agreed and the end result was that my whole iPhoto library can no longer be viewed in iPhoto. iPhoto claims I have zero photos.
I tried the rebuild library routine and that does not work. On top of that, all of my photo files are now corrupt. Preview cannot open any photo file (even those outside the iPhoto library). All my files are there but I get an error message when I try to open them using Preview or any other file viewer.
I then did and archive and install from my OS X install DVD and the problem still remainded. I repaired permissions and repaired disk and the problem still remains.
How can I uncorrupt my photo files?

JellyBeen,
Thanks for taking time to help.
I do have a backup. I actually did an archive and install of OS X, I restored my iPhoto library from backup. The back up worked fine unitl the next day when it happened all over again.

I have started a similar thread on this page, same problem.
I do have a backup, but it's at least a month old and I would probably lose a lot of work in the process, ugh.
Edit: Apple - iPhoto - Feedback

OreoCookie,
Thanks for taking time to help out.
I will be sending feedback to Apple. I started a thread in the Apple discussions:
Apple - Support - Discussions - NOthing shows up after iPhoto asked to ...
So far I've tried eveything I can think of and what others have suggested but the problem comes back.
My back up is 10 days old from when things went crazy. I can live with rebuilding the library from the photos but I cannot rebuild my calendars, books, cards and slideshows in iPhoto without a LOT of work and nothing to go by but my own recollections of what I did (I am not a spring chicken so my memory is not that great).

Why wouldn't your calendars, books, and slideshows be in your backup?

The backup has everything. I meant that I did not want to rebuild the library by re-importing the photos alone.
I called AppleCare and while I was rebuilding the library iPhoto crashed. I had just gotten off the phone with AppleCare because the library rebuild was taking so long.
I've decided to just install the OS from scratch and restore from my backup.
