MS RDC client locks up after 2-4 min

I'm running the lastest version of RDC for Mac under OS 10.4.8 on an
intel mac. I connect to my work using a PPTP VPN connection and then
remote desktop to servers and workstations on the work network. I
connect with VPN to a Windows Server 2003 RAS server. My computer
connects to VPN with no problem and I can remote desktop to any system
on the network from my mac but it always locks up after about 2-4
minutes of use. No errors of any kind, remote desktop client just
freezes and I have to force quit, then I can log in again for another
short period and it will freeze again. Any ideas anyone?
