Okay, I have an .dmg file that I want to burn onto an HP DVD+RW, 4.7gb

The file shows up as only 4.2gb, the disk shows up as 4.4gb in Disk Utility, when I try to burn it says the disc doesn't have enough space. Also the DVD+RW says its write status is Locked in disk utility..

what's my problem? :/

Verify and Repair Disk Permissions on your HDD and see if that helps.

Disk utility still says the DVD+RW disc is write-protected.. is there any way to change the filesystem of the disc? I think that because the filesystems on the dmg and the dvd+rw are different, the one on the DVD might be taking up extra space that's preventing me from burning to the disc?

If you have already burned data to the DVD+RW, then you'll need to erase it first before burning to it again.

Possibly formatting by the OS, though it is strange that much is gone.
