I'm running 10.4.8 on an ancient powermac G4. I tried to install windows media player on it (the latest version from microsoft) and the installer just hangs. When it hangs, it also says that its going to install over 500 components.

Anybody else familar with this and know what to do?

Thanks,
Mark

Not sure what that means. However, WMP is ancient at this point, and you would be much better off just installing Flip4Mac. There's even a chance that it may not install anymore, due to incompatibilities with recent OS updates.

But if for some reason you absolutely need it, I have absolutely no useful information. Sorry!

Thanks for the reply. I do have F4M installed. But it doesn't work for some news sites I visit and on those pages, it says to get WMP 9 for the mac.

I don't think there's anything that WMP 9 for Mac can play that F4M can't. Most likely the problem is something else.
