Making Quicktime Movie from desktop

I was just curious as to how you would make one of those movies showing people mani[pulating files and folders etc on the desktop and save it in Quicktime. I've seen several people post videos of their desktops and other things they do with their mac's but never found out exactly how to.

Is there a way to do it ? Or is most of that stuff just snapshots hooked together in key frames ?
