Why not give a try to Fleximusic, you can record in through all external equipments and can save output either as wav/mp3 or of your choice.

When I went to install wiretap pro, I got a message that said "This installer will install the WireTap Pro folder in your Applications folder, and a kernel extension called AmbrosiaAudioSupport that facilitates audio recording. It also installs a custom machine-wide license for Turner Broadcasting Systems, Inc & Affiliates.
What does that last sentence mean that I'm installing for Turner Broadcasting????? I stopped downloading because I got a little paranoid about about big brother watching me!
(I'm a newbie to the Forum, so I hope I'm posting in the right place.)
I'm also really excited about getting my first new mac in years--a 17" mbp c2d 2.33! Woohoo, the fun begins!!

Just use Garageband. No installation needed BECUASE IT COMES WITH YOUR MAC.

To get an audio track in Garageband, press the "+" button on the bottom left corner, and select "Real Instrument". Plug your microphone into the line-in, and hit the "R" key to record.

I wanted to try wiretap pro because I want to download a streaming audio as I listen to it. I listen to a lot of audio interviews, radio shows w/book reviews, etc., and want to be able to download them for my ipod when I'm on the road everyday. I'm kind of new at this and I'm probably taking the long way around, so I thought a program like wiretap pro would enable me to do this. The only way I can see Garageband working for this is if I plug into line in and line out, but then I wouldn't be able to listen at the same time. Am I right? (Remember, it's all new to me--I've been on a g3 (yosemite) desktop and a pb g3 and for networking reasons, had to stay with os 9.2. I've got a lot to learn!)

RAdio Recorder is freeware that lets you download any streaming audio you can capture via iTunes. I think I read that Audacity (also free) can also do this but I've never used it.
