I'm particularly interested in how version 5 of the Studio apps running on Mac Pros (2.66 or 3, X1900XT) compare to the same apps running on a G5 dual 2.5. I know it's difficult to benchmark, but it would be great to hear about things like rendering speed, how much RAM is enough (at what point performance returns diminish, given how expensive RAM is), how stable the Mac Pros are running Compressor on up to 3 hour projects. Also, how's the performance of Firewire capturing from a DVCAM deck with the MacPros?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Apple has this information on their Mac Pro page. Have you seen it?

Thanks, CatOne, yes, I had seen their numbers. Was just looking for information from users as opposed to Apple's marketing machine.

I will seek feedback elsewhere.

The production house that I work at just recieved 2 MacPro towers (3.0 GHz). We currently edit on dual 2.7 G5's. Testing is scheduled for next week on these new towers. I'll post system specs and user impressions when the testing is completed.
I gotta have more cowbell.
