Not content with the current offering, BeaTunes, Potion Factory, made this incredibly hot iTunes-companion:

It's fast and mostly accurate, and can build playlists based on BPM and "intensity". It's got a real awesome UI to boot.

It "listens" to the song and determines it via an algorithm. It will never be better than human analysis, but it does create some interesting playlists that I wouldn't have put together myself.

Does this thing break off saving the calculated BPM values to iTunes songs for anyone else?

It seems to always die with an AppleScript error after a few thousand songs.

Worked for my 8500+ libraries, both at work and at home.

I bow before your library. Sheesh!

I have a paltry 6,000 songs. It worked for all of them.

Worked great for my 3000 song library, a bit light for MacNN. Right now, I'm just looking for some nice DJ mixing software that's simple and cheap, to alter BPM and make a seamless mix.

Third time's the charm - it worked now.

It gets some weird results, though.
