Is there any application for Intel Mac which will allow me to view HTTP headers being exchanged between my browser and a web server?

HTTP Scoop ~ The HTTP Sniffer for Mac OS X ~ Welcome

Not universal. Never tried it, either.

Thanks for your trouble, but Scoop does not seem to do anything on my Mac. I guess I have to wait for the universal version.

But I am using Firefox 2.0, and that extension seems not to work with it.

You can view the response headers with the Web Developer Toolbar firefox extension. That has been updated to work with 2.0.

Will that toolbar also allow me to view the request headers? They can be useful for diagnosing problems as well.

That's why I explicitly stated that it's for FF 1.5.

Sadly, no. If you want a slightly more complex application that will definitely let you see all of the headers going both ways, you may want to check out ethereal. It has a learning curve, but it is also very powerful and useful once you get the hang of it.
