hello
this is my first post to this forum and i hope you can help me...
i am a switcher and im not really confortable with all the mac settings yet. Here's a bunch of questions:

1)
i have a 13.3 macbook and a pair of Logitech usb Headphones, when using itunes and front row for music everything works fine. I can select the output device from the "system preferences/sounds" menu and everything works smoothly (after i restart the application i use).
When it comes to movies tho... i have a couple of videoclips added in my library... and when i try to play them, i only get sound from the usb device.
No matter what device is selected on system preferences, itunes and front row will use the usb device to play the audio of my video file. Even tried unpluging the usb and restarting itunes and computer a couple of times but still, with the usb headphones disconnected i could get no sound at all.
(i have the proper codecs installed)
Vlc on the otherhand is working ok...
any ideas how to get the avi sound back on the computer speakers?

(edit: now the computer cannot recognise the usb headset... maybe some problem with the usb hub... and i can get no sound at all from the movies played through itunes and frontrow :X)

2)
also is there some FrontRow configuration utility?

3)
tunes refuses to add some of my video files to the library, i drag and drop them in the movies section, it seems to analyze something and then nothing appears... :S
is this a codec matter? what codecs do u suggest so i can play anything through itunes and frontrow?(a codec pack for mac maybe?)

4)
I tried to get artwork for my existing music library.
Can i get it from itunes store without payiing?
i used another artwork utility (dunno if i am allowd to say which ) but it didnt seem to work, (i suspect thats because my library is on an ntfs drive on which the mac utility cannot write, right?)

5)
i tried to monitor my cpu's temperature. i found out what's going on with the speedit thingy, so i got the speedit.kext and when i run it through the terminal.app i can check the temperature.
is there someway to automaticaly load that speedit.kext on every startup?
i am using the iStat pro widget, is there a way to monitor/control fan speed with this widget?

i think that's all so far, i hope you can help me out with those issues...
sorry if the post is too big, or if im asking too much.
also sorry if i did not follow some forum rule, (this is my 1st post here)

anyway, guys, please help a switcher survive osx!

thanx in advance

2) No.
3) I have not tried whether iTunes/Frontrow accept WMV, but I would not be surprised if not. As for codecs I think all you need is Flip4Mac and 3ivx (or DivX).
4) Yes, you can get album art from the iTunes Store for free, but you need to create an account. Then select Advanced->Load Album Covers from the iTunes menu.
5) Personally I don't install software with kext since those can influence system stability. And certainly I wouldn't want to control fan speed. And why monitor all that stuff? It just is as it is.
