I am committed to staying OS X apps only, even though Apple Mail Tiger is peeing me off. It crashed, I lost all my emails, but then imported them because mail backs up the data (thank god). It is still kinda broken. I use Hotmail and Yahoo, probably the two worst email services out there. I have got a gmail account too, but it works without a hitch. Hotmail and Yahoo are always acting up, always. I have grown to hate them. And they don't work too well with Apple Mail, either.

I do have a little plugin called HTTPMAIL, which allows me to use hotmail with Apple Mail. Now, I can't send email with yahoo, only receive. I have checked their non-OS X friendly help section but it has nothing. Does anybody have similar problems and what can I do...

How fitting that I see this thread. I am working for a friend as tech support and she has issues with Yahoo. Sometimes it works fine (when I am there....) but many times it asks for her password, even though it is stored in Keychain. And then it says her password is invalid. She had problems with Thunderbird before trying Mail, but that was before me so I don't know if they were similar. I will post anything I find here, and hope that some good tips appear to help me also.

I've never had any issues with Yahoo! Mail, but I use the web interface, not Mail. Frankly, the extra cost for POP3 or other direct access to Yahoo! Mail isn't worth it to me. Last time I checked, they won't allow you to POP3 into your mail unless you pay their premium price.

Thnx for the reply. In fact, my yahoo mail does ask for my password in the same fashion. Sometimes it rejects it. This happens frequently and is very annoying. Usually a restart helps. I wish .mac was free.

I think I read somewhere in the last couple of weeks that Yahoo is ending POP access to their email soon.
