why can't I open https pages with Safari

Since I instaled skype and messenger on my mac safari couldn't load https pages...i cant check my mail with Safari also messenger didn't connect so I uninstaled messenger but Safari still doesnt work. So now I am using Firefox that works perfect...
Can anybody help me with that? Because I would like to use Safari and some program to chat and talk with msn profile...
