You either need POP3 or IMAP access to your mail account to access it with Mail. IMAP is the preferred way to access a mail account. Since you don't see any ads when you access your mail via a mail client, you usually have to pay for this service. It seems Yahoo doesn't even offer IMAP, only POP3.
