I can't do video conferencing... but I have an intel

Apple states that an Intel mac will fulfill the requirements for video multiconferencing, yet on my intel imac, I can't multiconference.

I'm also on a university network which means I have enough bandwidth and have successfuly done one-to-one conferences.

As you can see in the picture above, I don't have the icon that shows you can do multiconferencing. It looks like the camera icon, but three additional ones stacked on top.

This is so weird. It also shows up on my friend's macbook pro and intel imac, respectfully. They both can't do multiconferencing either.

Why is Apple making it difficult to get this set up?

do you mean hosting a multi-party video conference? yeah, apple states that to host a multi-party video conference you can use an intel mac.

what is it doing exactly?

have you tried the solution in that?

turn down the quicktime streaming to 1.5mbps T1?

The limiting factor in multi-hosting conferences is the bandwidth - are you absolutely certain you have the necessary bandwidth available?
