Hi, I've done a lot of searches on copying DVDs (popular topic!) under fair use and all of that, and would like to back up copies of my own DVDs (which have copy protection) to take on a trip and leave the originals at home. I also like the feature that Popcorn offers to copy video to an iPod. (that would be great for long flights!!) I have also seen Fast DVD Copy referenced here.

So, a bunch of the threads that mention Popcorn are a bit older. Is this still THE software to use (plus Mac the Ripper) to copy DVDs, or is Fast DVD Copy better/easier??

If ease of use, and not price, was the key factor, which would you use? Can Fast DVD Copy send video to iPods? Does Fast DVD Copy effectively remove encryption? Am I right in thinking the Popcorn version is 2 steps whereas the Fast DVD copy is 1 step? What else justifies the $50 price difference?

Is there someone who's used both that can post about the advantages of one over the other?

Thanks in advance!

PS. Is there some way to get You Tube videos onto one's iPod with these or other applications?

I'd go with Fast DVD Copy for copying and Handbrake (free) for iPoding. Or if you already have DVD burning sw like Toast, use Handbrake to rip the raw movie and burn the disk with Toast.

Mac the Ripper, hands down!
Fast DVD Copy is unfortunately an unreliable product.
