I don't know why you're suddenly having problems, but it might be a good idea to use Onyx or a similar program to run routine maintenance on your system. Also, repair permissions and, if you have Disk Warrior, use that to repair any directory problems your system might be experiencing. Finally, you should update to Adobe Reader 7 - it's much faster and better than the old version.
You might have Adobe Reader set somewhere as the default program for Print Preview and, therefore, it won't preview the file for you. Or it might be just a quirk in Adobe Reader (more likely).
