I am a paid and registered user of memtest but not too puter savvy... At least not in single user mode

When I enter into single user mode I try to type in "/Applications/memtest/memtest all 3 -L" and I hit "return"

It says user unknown and shows the command "sh:localhost:/root #"

Is there something I supposed to login as ? I tried "/private/var/root" and I get the same response.

I also have applejack installed so I do not know if this makes a difference.
