Hi is there a short cut or some command to select duplicate photos in my iphoto library or in the program it self?

I use to have a PC and transferred a bunch of photos and somehow they got duplicated and i have like allot that i don't want to start from scratch. Also these photos are from CD back ups so yeah i kinda got my self in a pickle heh.

Ment to ask if there was an add on to iPhoto or other program that might take care of this.

oh and Thank you

I don't know of any quick way, but check the sizes of the images and make sure you don't delete the images instead of the thumbnails if they got imported as well.

TRy iPhoto Diet at Versiontracker. Seems to do a good job of getting rid of duplicates.

You're not looking in Finder are you? If so, those duplicates could be thumbnails. Whatever you do, stay out of the iPhoto library in finder. Do any and all work from within iPhoto app. Messing with Finder will cause untold grief -- lost photos, photos not usable within the app, corrupted photos etc. Forget that that file exists and use the app to do whatever you want with your photos.

Good luck!

Thank you very much, i will try use the iPhoto diet when i get home from work. The photos i have are all duplicate in the iPhoto program.

The thing is when i went to europe i thought i would be cleaver and dump all my photos on my 30 Gig ipod. Problems started when i got back the ipod did not want to cough up my files (photos) my entire vacation 1000+ photos could not be retrieved. I used a program that unlocked everything so i could dump the photos manually. Thats where i got duplicates and many of them.

Then i had a load of CDs with diffrent folder names but did not realize i had duplicates. Now i had almost the full max iPhoto can handle witch was i think 25000 photos and im slowly deleting. I can say that i have now 20000 but who is to say 1/3 of that is junk duplicates.

Gasp sorry for spelling grammar
