I'm using an EyeTV 310 and am a bit confused about the file sizes of EyeTV recordings and how to best handle them regarding Toast. If i have a Pal recording of around 90 minutes the file size in EyeTV is up to over 5.5 GB and Toast can't burn it to a single layer DVD. But if i use a DL DVD i end up with a finished DVD that's small enough in size, that it should have fit to a single layer disc in the first place.
If i export a recording in a native MPEG format i get a much smaller file, for example: the EyeTV recording is 4.85 GB and the MPEG file of the same recording is 2.63 GB. I don't really understand the difference in file size and wonder what data or quality i am losing in the process?
