Is there any type of application of Mac OS X that will say "speech" what you type? It could help me greatly.

Do you mean is there an application that will speak what you have typed? Yes, it is in the Systems Preferences under "Speech." It isn't too good in 10.4, but in 10.5, it is supposed to be vastly improved.

If you have 10.4, an option in Voiceover (part of the Universal Access software - see System Preferences) is for it to speak every word or character as you type:

What they said, and also in most apps (like Textedit) you can highlight words and then click Edit>speech and have it read out to you. You can also do that via using the Services menu, which is under the application menu of every app (the menu with the name of the app).

In some apps, like Safari, you can highlight text and go to the Services menu, pick the "Speech" submenu and then "Start Speaking Text"

TextEdit supports text to speech in the app in the Edit menu.

Word X, Appleworks don't appear to support text-to-speech. It isn't great missing many contextual pronunciation changes but it's getting a long overdue revision in 10.5 Leopard.
