I had some trouble importing messsages into the OS X mail app from Thunderbird. Finally go tit to work, but in the mean time I trashed by inbox on thunderbird before getting those emails into Mail. I found a program (EMail AlChemy) and recovered the messages and they are now in .emix form. The only problme I have now is that I cannot get them into any mailbox that shows up in the Mail program for OS X. I can see them one at a time, but if anyone knows how to get message into the Mail app let me know.

I figured it out. You can move the .emix files into the appropriate folder at the Library/mail/your-account and then when you bring up the Mail app you can select teh folder where you placed the files and then under "Mailbox" select 'rebuild' and then the emails show up.
