Okay, this is going to be the stupidest question in the world. I've been a Mac user for years, and have finally gotten a Mac that can actually run OS X at a reasonable (actually very fast!) speed. I'm still trying to get my head around all the stuff that's different. So (at long last) here's my dumb question:

When installing a 3rd party app in OS X, do you need to quit all open apps as was strongly suggested if not required in OS 9 & previous?

I'm running 10.4.7 Tiger on a 24" iMac, Intel processor.

No. OS X is not OS 9.

Thank you There are a lot of differences (all good) and I'm still learning them all. This is great news!

Some old-fashioned installers will still request that you quit other apps, but even those are usually full of it.
