So HP has decided to get rid of all their drivers for OS X for their older scanners. Period. You can't even buy them anymore.

Anyone have it somewhere? I need it for my 6300c USB scanner, and I haven't a clue where my CD is.

Argh! This is infuriating. I ing hate HP. What does it hurt to host the damn file? Now I can't even download it.

get SANE - The unix scanner and printer driver set thingy.
It helped me alot when i couldnt get any drivers for my HP Scanner, and it integrates with Image Capture.

I had to buy a print driver (!) from HP once. My parents had a LaserJet 3100 and they wanted them to pay for the Windows 2000 drivers. (Can you guess my amazement? I've upgraded to Win 2k and they couldn't print …)

What printers do they define as old? If any of these are at all recent, someone should sue.

Well, a printer has a life expectancy of somewhere between four and seven years in my experience. Especially when you own a laser, progress isn't as dramatic as with inkjets. In my parents' case, the printer was barely two years old or so -- hardly old!

Why does it hurt to have all these old drivers available for download?

TWAIN SANE Interface for MacOS X

That should work, integrating with Image Capture.

Thanks a bunch, guys (gals?). I'll give that TWAIN thing a try.

By the way, don't ever install printer drivers for an HP all-in-one on your own computer unless you actually own the printer (I did it as a favor for my stepmom to print something for her.) You'll never find where those files went, and when you plug/unplug a usb cable, it'll pop up with an error telling you it can't find the printer. I eventually erased my HDD and started fresh because HP makes it impossible to find any of the printer files.

They used to be a pretty damn good company for scanners and printers. Now they're just evil.

I couldn't get it to preview in Image Capture, but it did work great through Photoshop.

HP's mac drivers and software aren't that great. I ordered a Brother all-in-one printer scanner copier fax that's mac compatible, and I hope it's better. I'll find out on x-mas day
