I am using a MacBook Pro with networked printers. Probably 1 out of 30 times I can get a program to print. But most of the time every time I press print that program crashes. This includes MS Office, Preview ext.
Well, I have a wireless network with a proxy server for web access. I had to exclude the local address of the machine in order for the printers to work consistently (Network --> Proxies --> Bypass proxy settings...).
Look in your Library>Logs>Crash Reporter right after a crash and see what the newest file is. Open it and look at the very last lines to see what is crashing. Post that here. Then we can go from there.
