I just helped a friend finally make the switch from a PC to an iMac. He's really very happy with the new machine, except for one thing: he hates iPhoto. He wants to be able to print a picture with text the way he did with his PC app (I think it's PictureIt).

He doesn't have Pages yet, and I was wondering if there's another program that will do it. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I used to use iView Media Pro Quite flexible and powerful I gave that up after converting to Aperture. Since he hates iPhoto he may not like Aperture and he may not need the power but that is also an alternative.

Hi, Michael,

Does Aperture allow you to add comments to a photo you print out? I think he just wants to be able to print out a picture he takes and post it at his lodge, so he would like to be able to put in a description of the picture and include some wiseass comment.

Personally, I just use Pages for that. But he's coming in from Windows (he's only had his Mac 3 weeks), and I am loathe to admit that there's a program like this for Windows that somehow does not have an equivalent for a Mac. Never mind the other stuff like CAD programs, etc, that are a little more esoteric. Something that counts as part of the "digital lifestyle" should be available for Macs.

If I don't find anything by tonight, I'll just tell him to use Pages.

While Aperture allows the use of a caption and keywords I did not see a way to have them included in printing. Admittedly I have never needed to have captions or comments printed out so there may still be a way but I didnt see it,
