iTunes doesn't let you edit tags like Date Added and Play Count among others, however I would like to. I had the opportunity to rip my entire CD collection this winter break but I want them to show up as added during 2003 or 2004, because I sort my playlist by Date Added and like to see the latest songs at the top, but having over 1000 tracks added the same day defeats that purpose.

I don't think you can do it easily, but you could make a smart playlist that excludes songs added on that particular day. Just a suggestion.

There is a separate ID3 tag for the year of the album which is different than the date added - you might try that. Otherwise you will need a general-purpose ID3 tagger.

I'd come up with some crazy way of doing it by editing them Library XML file, or parts of it.

Easy...remove those songs from your iTunes library. Then change the date on your computer to 2003/4 and readd them to iTunes. Finally, reset your clock to the correct date.
