Has storage of artwork for songs changed with iTunes 7?

Is there a difference between the storage of album covers when it autodownloads vs. you dragging the artwork into the info window?

I bought some albums with itunes which come with artwork too and also put some artwork on songs manually .. And the only place I can find any kind of artwork is

documents and settings\my documents\my music\itunes\Artwork (or something like this ...)

I believe it used to store it in the file, but now it stores it in a separate artwork database.

Album artwork downloaded from iTS for music you didn't purchase there is downloaded to the Album Artwork folder.

Album artwork for music you purchased at the iTS and album artwork you add to tracks yourself is stored in the actual track file and cached in the Album Artwork folder.

Thanks.

I will just have to disable the automatic album cover function. I'd rather do the manual placing of artwork myself rather than losing the data iTunes spent a half hour crunching through if I have to ever use backed up MP3 files again.

After iTunes downloaded the artwork you can copy it, delete it, then paste it in again. That inserts them into the files. This is how I did it.
