I have a pretty large collection of DVD movies and i want to keep track of them on the computer. I know that many programs exist for cataloging them, but i wanted to know if anyone felt strongly about one over another.

I'm looking for a program that would be able to connect to the internet to find out information about the movie. Also a program that would allow me to search for movies by artist.

So if i wanted to watch a movie with 'Jim Carey', i could easily search thru all my movies with him in it.

There's also a search widget that can be enabled within DL that's quite useful.

Good app but I have a variety of DVD regions and had to manually create almost 30% of my entires its also poor with books.

DVDpedia does this with smart collections - very similar to iTunes. It does the other things you need too.
