I was trying to send an email yesterday which never did go through -- I pasted the message into mail and used that, instead. I kept getting a message (in Entourage) that there was an error, couldn't connect, etc. But another message I sent as an experiment did go through. At the time, I wondered if perhaps there was a problem with the addresses.
Then, several hours later I got a message saying the database was corrupt; did I want to rebuild. I did-- took forever, too -- and when the program started back up, I got the same "database might be corrupt" message. This time, I went through a book on office, and found out apparently I was supposed to get a message saying to trash the old database (which didn't happen, but I did it anyway). Since then, and since a second rebuilding, I've gotten no more "corrupt database" messages, but I'm less then confident. I grant you the database is huge, more than 2 GB -- as it contains tons of email from the past 5 or so years.
Question -- shoudl I continue to be worried? I actually started importing the whole thing inoto Mail, but I'm worried I'm just importing a problem. However, should I go with it now, since I'm supposedly OK for the moment? Any insights or recommendations?
As an aside, I shoudl probably mention Entourage has, in the past few weeks, been crashing at least once a day.

Entourage is known for its corruption problems, thats why I switched to mail and never looked back.

I thought I had read that over the years, but had never experienced it myself. (Well, except for the day I opened the program and EEVERY E-MAIL WAS GONE. It had reset to out of the box condition. Fortunately, I'd updated the night before.)
I think it might be time to import to mail.

Database FAQs
Do you have 2 million items in your database?
Also: Corrupt Database
Personally, I will never use an e-mail programme that relies on a single database file. Just not worth the risk.

I did some digging today and found the item about having 2 millions items in the database. I'm not on that computer, so I'll check later.
A question, though -- and yes, I should probably know the answer but I don't -- how is the Mail system set up? Is that a single database?

Each email in Mail is an individual file.
