Hi guy's! I hope you can help. I am editing in final cut pro 5. for video that will be streamed using an AVI codec. when I convert my Final Cut projects to QuickTime, 320x240, sorenson3, 15fps: my video plays fine for the first ten minutes, then the compression seems to triple and it looks horrible. However, the last few minutes go back to proper quality.(almost forming an arc)

I have 20 of these videos ranging from 6min to 60min and can't afford much more trial and error. Is there a good codec that will allow me to change Final Cut projects in QuickTime files that will not corrupt in the middle?

Is the length of the Programs at issue, or is it codec problem? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

One thing I'd like to know is how you're actually doing your exporting and encoding. That process was never mentioned in your original post. What is your workflow?

I've been experiementing with different AVI conversions using Compressor and Quicktime Conversion, and can't find any settings that allows me to scale down my NTSC sequence to 320x240. Even when exporting a Quicktime movie using the Sorensen 3 encoder, there is no option there to scale down. So I'm assuming, by the little info in your original post, that your Final Cut sequence is already 320x240.

I've personally never used Sorensen compression, as my workflows here do not require it. But I'm up for some more experimentation as time allows this evening.
I gotta have more cowbell.
