I have a new MPB. I did the migration via firewire/Vulcan mind-swap thing with it and my old PB. I had a full version of Office 2004 installed on the PB. When I open Word docs, for example, on the MBP via a double click on the document, it launches a trial version of Word with a watermark on all the documents. When I open Word from the icon in the dock and then open the documents, they open normally.

How can I get rid of the trial version of Office 2004 without hosing my settings for my full version?

Just delete the entire folder out of /Applications. That's all you need to do.

Not the best advice. I tried this and now I cannot double click on any word or excel document without an error popping up for application not found, even though I still have my full version of word installed on my machine. I have to launch word or whatever and open the file from there. This sucks.

Anyone really know how to get rid of the trial version without borking my machine?

The original advice was sound. You should make sure that you have emptied the Trash to get rid of the trial version (otherwise you presumably get the error where it will not launch a file with an app in the Trash). Then, launch a Word file by dragging it onto the Word icon in the dock (or in the Applications folder) and thereafter, Word should automatically start when you double click on a Word file.

Empty the trash. Of course. I'm a moron. Thanks for the help and apologies to CatOne.

There's an uninstaller in the Test Drive folder. Use that. Microsoft couldn't let the simple and elegant Mac install-uninstall process be. They had to complicate it with this stuff. Further, if you follow the links in the Test Drive apps to buy the full version, you STILL have to remove the Test Drive. Dumb! Anyway, USE THE "REMOVE OFFICE" APP IN THE TEST DRIVE FOLDER as explained by Microsoft here.
