I've currently got an emac and am about to buy an intel macbook.
I'm running FCP 4.5 on the emac.

Was wondering is the universal binary Final cut studio backwards compatible, one of the reasons I don't want to upgrade is I have existing projects yet to finish in FCP 4.5 was wondering if I will be able to open them in Final Cut studio?

You mean forwards compatible, I think ;-)

Anyway Final Cut Pro 5.1 can import 4.5 projects. It will convert them and all will be fine.

Note the reverse is not true -- you can not read a FCP 5.1 project in Final Cut 4.5.

Yeah you're right should be forwards compatible now that you mention it.
Thanks for your reply CatOne. What you said about forwards & backwards compatibility for FCP is what I suspected but just wanted to have it verified.
