I have DVD Studio Pro 3 and FCP 4.5. I'm in Australia so working on Pal footage, so all my exports have been set up as PAL. I'm trying to import a video (with sound) into DVD Studio Pro. I've tried several different importing several different formats and having problems with all of these.
This is what I have tried so far:

Exported from FCP 4.5 an mpeg2 file. I notice that it seems to separate the audio and video files, if I then burn both those files in Toast it plays both video and audio on my DVD player, however when I import the video and audio files into DVD Studio Pro it only plays the video not the audio. I can have the audio as background for the menu, but when I click play movie button it only comes up with the video.

So next I tried exporting from FCP4.5 as DV Stream, this imported both audio and video into DVD Studio Pro and it played both, but the quality was iffy. In retrospect I think I may have exported it as 44khz DV Stream, when I think it probably should have been exported as 48khz DV Stream?

Lastly I exported FCP 4.5 to a quicktime movie (not the quicktime movie conversion option but the export to quicktime movie) this imported fine in DVD Studio Pro but when I play movie it plays my whole FCP project file (e.g. colour bars etc at the beginning) rather than the sequence (which has been shortened).

Any ideas what I am doing wrong, and what should I actually export from FCP 4.5 to get this to work in DVD Studio Pro?

Export from Final Cut as an Mpeg2... make sure you set it to PAL. This will create 2 files a .m2v and a .aif, both should have the same name.
In DVD studio you should import both of these and place both on a track. From DVD studio you should be able to play the video (both picture and sound)... if not then your encode settings from Final Cut must be wrong.

You will get more responses if you post in the 'Digital A/V' forum.

Hi, thanks, your suggestion worked! I actually originally had DVD Studio Pro in Basic view but when I configured it to extended view I could then see the video/audio tracks and my Assets, but originally in Basic view I was trying to do everything through the video and audio palettes on the far right hand corner of the screen, but when I configured as Extended I noticed I could import assets and then drag both video and audio into my button and then it worked fine. For some reason couldn't get it to work in Basic view but anyway what you suggested in Extended config has worked great.
Also pleased to know that mpg2 is the correct format.

I didn't notice the 'Digital A/V' forum, thanks for mentioning that, I've since posted some other issues I am having with DVD Studio Pro there.
Thanks again
