Hi all,

I sometimes use Front Row to watch movies stored on a firewire harddisk and have come upon a problem. When I've finished watching and quit Front Row, I can't eject the firewire drive. OS X says it's still in use, as if Front Row hasn't let go of it.

I make Front Row access the external drive through an alias to it in the Movies folder. No tweaking.

Anyone got an idea of how to make Front Row let go of the drive so I can eject it? I'm on a Macbook, so keeping the drive always connected is not an option.

Best regards,
marcus

I do the same thing (with an alias, but to a USB external drive) and have encountered the problem too. The issue is, I think, that when we exit Frontrow it does not actually quit, just sort of hides itself. I suppose this is in case you want to use it again soon afterwards. The only solution I have found is to open Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities) and then quit Frontrow in there. Maybe it is possible to make an Applescript to automate this process.

Hi, thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I just noticed that too, when the Front Row process started hogging 100% of one of the cores after I "quit" and disconnected the Firewire drive.

Seems like process killing is the way to go for now...

Ditto Unfortunately, I've seen/had the same problem, maybe in the next version?!
