SecureMac.com has released version 2.3 of the Anti-Spyware program for Mac OS X, MacScan. Version 2.3 adds a blacklisted cookie scanner. This feature maintains a list of known tracking cookies, and when run, removes them from web browsers in which they are found. Version 2.3 also adds file cleaning support for additional browsers.

As of version 2.3, MacScan comes with US English and Korean localizations.

MacScan can be run for a 15-day demo period. Upgrades from previous versions of MacScan 2 are free, and can be obtained by either selecting "Upgrade MacScan" under the "MacScan" menu, or downloading the demo version from MacScan:: Macintosh Spyware Trojan Keystroke Logger Mac Spyware Detection Removal Protection Mac OS X and entering your serial number.

Bloggers wishing to review the product can e-mail macsec@securemac.com for a free copy of the software, please include your website address.

Hey, at least this one's relevant, seeing as how it's actually, you know, a Mac app, as opposed to the Windows apps that spammers usually hawk in here.

I don't really see anything wrong with announcing a new Mac app in the Applications forum (hey, I've done it a few times), but I guess it is kind of obnoxious that this guy evidently created the account just to announce the app.

Oh well, the moderators can sort this one out.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
