I love how in Mac OS X you can basically write a long sentence or short paragraph to name any folder/picture/movie, etc etc.

But is there a way for the finder to fully display the entire text for these files with incredibly long titles? I thought by maybe checking the 'display info' box in 'more view options' in finder would do the trick but apparently not. I'm hoping to do this without the need of an add-on/plug-in. any ideas?

Hover your mouse over the file name to get a tooltip containing the full name, or use Column view and set the width of the columns to be as wide as possible (hold the option key down when resizing to have all columns size the same at once).

You can use TinkerTool to raise the number of label lines on desktop files from 1 to 2, but that still only gets you up to around 38 characters displayed at once. I think that's the limit.

Hovering the pointer over a files name does display a tooltip containing the full name of the file when used on a file that resides on the desktop.
